Super Visa Application A Walk Through
The super visa application to get into Canada may seem daunting at first, but I assure you, as long as you’re honest, prepared and on time, there’s a very good chance that everything is going to go just fine.
In this blog, I will be going over a short overview of the super visa application and some of the things you’ll need to ensure the application’s success.
First, if you are from a country that requires a visa, you may need to provide additional information . What you will need to contribute to obtain the visa and how long that process will take depends on your country. Your best bet is to visit Citizen and Immigration Canada’s (CIC) website at www.cic.gc.ca for more information.
You’ll want to get started as soon as you can. Keep in mind processing times can vary not only depending on which country you come from but based on the volume of work and applications the CIC is currently working on. Be sure to check the Canadian Immigration website as soon as possible as processing times change on a weekly basis.
The application packet and instructions for super visas are available online at the CIC’s website. The application itself requires basic personal information that should be readily available to you. Answer to the best of your knowledge and truthfully and if you need help, CIC representatives are readily available by phone at 1-888-242-2100 from within Canada. Other answers should be available through the site.
You will need to provide proof of your relationship to the permanent resident or citizen; this could be a birth certificate or a baptismal certificate; really any official document that represents you as a parent or grandparent.
A letter of invitation from your child or grandchild is required. This letter, which we’ll discuss in a later post, should detail their intent to host you while you’re living in Canada and should talk abut their plan of care during your stay.
The application should also include proof of financial ability to support you while you’re in Canada.
Most importantly, you will need private medical insurance from a Canadian company valid for at least a year, even if you’re planning to stay for less than one year. The coverage should cover your basic care, hospital costs and insurance for your eventual return to your home country. Coverage should be for at least $100,000 and should be valid for every entry into Canada; this means it should be good for single entry and multiple entry super visas.
